There are many tragic and tough events that people experience throughout their lives. Sungjee Lee is a 14-year-old boy just like me, but he has experienced worse things than I have throughout my short life. He overcame these challenges by fighting to stay alive and with the hope of seeing his parents again one day. Even though Sungiee and I are very different, one major life experience that affected me was when I didn’t make the sports team. I wanted to be on the team so badly. This lesson taught me that if I don’t put hard work and effort into everything I do, I will get lazy and not be able to do anything well. Another challenge that Sungee Lee faced was that his mother and father disappeared looking for food for him. Sungee Lee learned that he had to venture out for himself individually because he didn’t have his parents to support him anymore. An example of this in my life was when my mom went to Florida and I stayed home with my elderly grandma. I had to get things for myself in the house and do my homework by myself for the first time. This period matured me into who I am today as it did to Sungee Lee.
